Chaos theory talks about a butterfly flapping its wings in America causing a hurricane in Tokyo. It should talk about a band who used to tear through 'Like A Hurricane' in Leeds making a budgie flap off its perch in Weatherfield. Yes, in 1990 on top of sold out arenas and scores of magazine covers, The Mission became so big that their single 'Deliverance' killed Emily Bishop's pet bird on Coronation Street.

Almost 20 years to the day since Wayne Hussey announced that his band would be known as The Mission (rather than The Sisterhood), this anthology, curated by Wayne himself, celebrates one of the UK's most successful rock bands of the post punk years.

The Anthology - The Phonogram Years is a 2CD set including all 11 of The Mission's Top 40 hits, with classics such as 'Wasteland', 'Deliverance' and 'Butterfly On A Wheel' alongside rare mixes, long lost b-sides, BBC sessions and previously unreleased material.

The package has personally been put together by Wayne Hussey and he has written extensive sleeve notes, with stories and anecdotes on each track .

This 30 track collection contains 5 previously unavailable tracks and 5 tracks appearing on CD for the first time. The set comes with a 16 page booklet packed with rare photos of the band and memorabilia from Wayne's personal collection.

The compilation features a newly unearthed gem in 'Click for more info Diamond Cuts Diamond', a song the band recorded during the 'Carved In Sand' sessions that has never before been released in any form whatsoever, and 'Hands across The Ocean', a radically different version of the song that was eventually released as a single. A completely over-the-top live version of 'Click for more info Blood Brother' from 1988 and a demo of 'Click for more info Belief' produced by Mike Fraser. And a fair few versions of the more popular and more well known tunes are appearing on CD for the very first time. We think it's something any Mission fan would definetly want in their CD collection.

And released, again by Universal, a week later on March 20th, is the Mission film/documentary 'Waves Upon The Sand'. This is the film that has only until now been available on VHS and follows the band during the 'Carved In Sand' album period, on tour and in the studio. This is coupled on DVD with the live film that was recorded and released, again only previously on VHS, as 'Crusade' in 1986. This DVD will sell at mid-price. And again, a must have for all Mission fans and available to pre-order from Amazon.com.
